Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu emphasized that education is a top priority for the “Praja Government,” ensuring every student remains in school. During a video conference with district collectors at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat—alongside Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar—he reviewed the progress of the Best Available School Scheme under the SC and ST Welfare Department. The Deputy CM instructed collectors, DEOs, and welfare officials to take the issue seriously and ensure that every student selected under the scheme continues their education without interruption. He stated that any disputes or issues between school managements and district administrations should be resolved officially—students should not be removed from schools for administrative reasons. Bhatti directed that schools’ pending dues under the scheme be submitted immediately, assuring that part of the funds would be released soon. Highlighting recent reports that some schools temporarily closed due to funding delays, Bhatti questioned how reputed institutions could depend solely on the Best Available Scheme funds. He instructed DEOs to personally visit all scheme-affiliated schools, inspect conditions, verify compliance with government regulations, and submit detailed reports. Additionally, he ordered data collection on all students who studied in these schools over the past seven years to track their higher education or career progress. Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar urged collectors and officials to directly interact with school managements and monitor the proper implementation of the scheme. Education Secretary Yogita Rana, Social Welfare Secretary Budha Prakash, and Commissioner Kshitij also attended the meeting.

A new unified front, the BC Joint Action Committee (BC JAC), has been formed in Telangana to strengthen the ongoing movement for BC (Backward Class) reservations. The committee was launched to consolidate various BC organizations and community groups under one umbrella to fight collectively for their rights. The committee appointed R. Krishnaiah as Chairman and Jajula Srinivas Goud as Working Chairman, with VGR Naragoni as Vice Chairman, Rajaram Yadav and Dasu Suresh as Co-Chairmen, and Gujja Krishna as Coordinator. The BC JAC announced a statewide Telangana Bandh on October 18, under the banner “Bandh for Justice”, to protest the High Court’s stay on BC reservations. Earlier protests — the road blockade planned for October 13 and the state bandh on October 14 — were postponed to coordinate a larger united movement. The leaders declared that this bandh will demonstrate the strength and unity of BCs, urging all community members to rise above political and organizational divisions. During the formation meeting held at Hotel Ashoka, Hyderabad, over 40 BC associations and 110 caste-based organizations participated. Leaders criticized certain political forces for attempting to block BC reservations through legal means. R. Krishnaiah emphasized that this struggle will continue until BCs secure their rightful share in legislative representation and government jobs, calling on all BCs to fight beyond political affiliations. Working Chairman Jajula Srinivas Goud stated that although BCs make up 60% of Telangana’s population, their rights continue to be suppressed by reservation opponents. He asserted that the October 18 bandh will send a strong message to both state and central governments, showcasing BC power from “the streets to Delhi.” The newly formed JAC vowed to lay the foundation for political empowerment and unity among BC communities across Telangana.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy unveiled the State Horticulture Development Plan–2035, outlining a roadmap to expand fruit and vegetable cultivation and enhance productivity across the state. The plan, prepared by the Telangana Horticultural University, targets an expansion of 1.32 lakh acres for fruits and 2.45 lakh acres for vegetables over the next five years. It estimates that an investment of ₹921.40 crore for cultivation and ₹942.50 crore for drip irrigation could yield up to fourfold returns for farmers. The plan emphasizes integrating university-developed technologies to achieve an annual production value of ₹1,341 crore. Districts suitable for expanding fruit crops like guava, papaya, banana, pomegranate, dragon fruit, and custard apple, and vegetables like tomato, brinjal, carrot, onion, and leafy greens, were identified based on soil and climate conditions. The strategy promotes off-season vegetable cultivation, shade-net farming, and protected agriculture to ensure year-round availability. To enhance yields, the plan calls for custom hiring centers at every mandal to facilitate access to farm machinery, and the use of weather-based advisories to minimize crop losses. It also proposes establishing cold storage units, pack houses, and refrigerated transport to reduce post-harvest losses. For export promotion, an integrated pack house will be set up near Hyderabad International Airport. The government aims to empower Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to manage production, marketing, and collective sales. A marketing intelligence cell will be established jointly by the Horticulture University and Agricultural Marketing Department to provide farmers with real-time price and demand forecasts, ensuring better income and reduced wastage.
